Pebbles & Rock Pools
Inspired by Brighton beach, driftwood and the rock pools further up the coast, especially rough weathered wood at the edges of walkways on Brighton seafront which contrasts with the smooth hardness of the colourful pebbles, which spill over the edges and become trapped in crevices.
My images are either hand painted onto silk or printed, then quilted and embroidered to create texture and raised reas in relief. giving a compelling, irresistible tactile quality to each piece. I enjoy the discord between the smooth lustrous qualities properties of silk as a medium and my subject matter. All pieces are one off originals.
